Addison and I are back at my parents house for the week and last night I was awakened by a shrill scream.. Addison of course. I figured she must have had a bad dream and would fall right back to sleep. As it turned out, she continued to scream until around 3:30. Dozed off for a little while an the screaming commenced at 5:30. At 7:00 I gave her to my mom, because physically I couldn't handle it anymore. I figured it was bad gas, but obviously I was wrong. That screaming turned into coughing, wheezing, and a runny nose. Luckily we were able to get into the doctor right away... she was diagnosed with croup. As a mother I was concerned, croup sounds serious. The doctor then informed me that the 3rd night is often the worst! 3rd night! She must have seen the look of horror on my face, when she assured me that it would be okay. Hopefully the steriods and Motrin would help prevent it from getting worse. Long story short, after a long night, long day, many medical purchases, and fighting with a very sick baby I am now sitting near her bed listening to her breathe. As it turns out, a family friends grandchild had croup... their grandchild stopped breathing in the middle of the night and almost died. So, I chose the first shift, I will be handing off to my mom, and my grandmother (who lives 2 minutes down the road) will be finishing the race. Since I haven't gotten much sleep I have to do something to keep myself awake... hmmm, must update the blog I suppose.
